The Bangladesh Tourism Board has sought the FBCCI’s cooperation to successfully organize the 10th Islamic Conference of Tourism Ministers in Dhaka next month. The three-day conference is scheduled to take place on February 5-7, to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Tourism ministers from 57 member states of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), as well as heads of the OIC institutes, representatives of international organizations and tourism experts will participate in the event. A delegation of the tourism board met with the FBCCI – Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry – on Tuesday, where both the parties discussed ways to successfully hold the conference. “We urge the FBCCI to be closely involved with the arrangement of this conference,” said Dr Md Nasir Uddin, CEO of Bangladesh Tourism Board. He also sought financial and other necessary cooperation from the FBCCI to hold the conference successfully, to which the FBCCI leaders responded with the assurance that they would provide all-out cooperation from the private sector. The FBCCI will also give a presentation on investment opportunities in the tourism sector of Bangladesh, the leaders said. FBCCI President Md Shafiul Islam (Mohiuddin) drew attention to the huge potential of the tourism sector of Bangladesh at the meeting. “Bangladesh can be a significant destination for different tourism sectors, such as textile tourism, art-culture tourism, health tourism and religion tourism, in addition to being a popular tourist destination. “As the premium trade body of Bangladesh, the FBCCI is focusing all its efforts on the development of the tourism sector,” he added. He also assured that all member bodies of the FBCCI were also working to promote the tourism sector, and lauded the government for putting due emphasis on this sector.
